Glass furniture troubles me. Glass table tops, especially. Glass is cold and, unlike wood, harbors the secret promise of a sharp break. Perhaps it's that promise that some mistake for the delicate character of elegance?

Elegance is another word for danger in disguise. And soap scum.

I am particularly unnerved by the idiot who thought a glass cutting board was a good idea. The only worse idea: concrete cutting boards. I have not seen these yet, but I'm sure someone and Bed, Bath, and Bad Idea is on the case.
